Honey Custard

We prefer an eggier, more subtly sweet take
on the classic Joy of Cooking baked custard



Preheat oven to 300°

Blend together:

  • 4 c whole milk
  • 1/2 c honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt


Add and beat well:

  • 5 eggs


Add:

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (or the scraped seeds from a 1-inch vanilla bean) 
Once well-beaten, pour into baking dish. 

Dust with: 
  • Nutmeg
Place dish into a larger baking dish and fill larger with boiling water. 

Bake an hour or more until custard firm and knife comes out clean.
